The challenge
Teach For America Dallas–Fort Worth turned ten in 2019. The region wanted to celebrate a decade of impact with the people who made it possible, and to invite them to invest in the next one. It was never going to be a one-night event: a year-long campaign would build toward a gala.
What we did
I led the communications strategy for the campaign and designed everything people saw and held, from the first announcement to the thank-you card. The one thing I did not design was the event space.
- A 10th anniversary logo and brand
- The announcement, the save-the-date, and email headers
- The invitation suite: the invitation, a sponsor thank-you card, and a reply card
- A VIP surprise delivered to the door: a star balloon, cider, an apple, and an invitation
- Ads for D Magazine and D CEO
- The gala program, end-of-evening signage, and library banners profiling alumni
- A pledge card styled as math homework, with stickers
- A coloring book of the region's history
- A swag package, including a notebook and a pencil bookmark, used throughout the year
- A commemorative book, A Decade of Impact
Results
- A year-long campaign culminated in a gala on February 28, 2019 that exceeded its goals: 440 people attended (the goal was 300), and it raised $1.3M for Teach For America Dallas–Fort Worth.
What they said
Lane's team can whip up just about any item you need to bring your vision to life, but what's even more important in our partnership is the discipline to focus on what matters most. They always bring us back to reality by asking: What is going to have the biggest impact on the goals we are working toward?
